UEFA Champions League odds and betting favourites for 2021-22
The Champions League is back for the 2021-22 season, and Europe’s best will compete for the title of continental champions. Chelsea are the defending champions, having defeated Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the 2020-21 season, but will they be in contention again this season?
We have all you need to know about the Champions League favourites, underdogs, and outsiders, from Paris Saint-Germain to Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Paris Saint-Germain are 10/3 to win the Champions League for the first time this season, according to Betway soccer betting. The Ligue 1 heavyweights have been chasing for the continental Champion’s League for some time, having reached the final of the 2019-20 season but losing to Bayern Munich. Summer signing Lionel Messi has Champions League experience, and a spectacular strikeforce consisting of himself, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe will be a force to be reckoned with.
Following their first-ever participation in the Champions League final under Pep Guardiola last season, Manchester City are 7/2 to win the competition. Following their last setback to Premier League rivals Chelsea, the Citizens will be raring to go as they attempt to defend their Premier League crown. Man City now have the extra attacking talent of Jack Grealish at their disposal, and a Champions League title might be on the horizon.
Bayern Munich and Chelsea, champions in the past two tournaments, are both 7/1 favourites to win the UCL again. Chelsea will be looking to defend their Champions League championship and add to their trophy collection, while Bayern will be looking to add to theirs. The summer addition of Romelu Lukaku from Inter boosted Chelsea prospects, while Robert Lewandowski remains a goal-scoring threat on the Champions League stage. He is a leading favourite with Betway to emerge the tournament’s leading scorer.
Six-time champions Liverpool are 9/1 to win the title this year. The Reds won the competition in 2019, but their following Champions League appearances have been underwhelming, however perhaps this year will be different.
Following the summer signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, Manchester United has odds of 9/1. Ronaldo will be hungry to win the Champions League with a different club, having previously won it with Real Madrid after failing to lead former club Juventus to European triumph. This season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team poses a serious threat both at home and abroad.
Real Madrid’s odds of winning the Champions League under manager Carlo Ancelotti are 14/1, and they will have to navigate the European competition without longstanding captain Sergio Ramos, who has moved to Paris Saint-Germain. Los Blancos hold the record for the most Champions League victories, although they haven’t won the competition since 2018.
Following Antoine Griezmann’s surprising return to his former club in the Spanish capital, Atletico Madrid has odds of 20/1. As the La Liga champions seek to win the top European trophy, he and Luis Suarez may create a dangerous combination.
Barcelona is also at 20/1, and they will be competing in the Champions League without their adored former star Lionel Messi. The Blaugrana now have Memphis Depay to depend on, but without Messi’s star power, it’s difficult to imagine them being the European superpower they once were.
Follow all the action from across Europe and place your bets with Betway, as the continent’s elite face off.
