We’ll start with the basics. An over 2.5 goals bet simply means that you need more than 2 goals in the game in order to win. So 1 or 2 goals in the game and your bet will lose but 3 or more goals and you have yourself a winner! Here are a few more things to note about over 2.5 goals betting:

1.) Goalscoring Form: How often do the teams you’re looking at score more than 2 goals in a game? That’s the obvious one, but to pick a winning bet you need to look into form in more detail.

2.) Home and Away Form: Look at the teams in question and their home and away form. A team might score or concede a lot away from home but not when they’re infront of their own fans.

3.) Previous Meetings: Look at the historic fixtures between these two teams. Some fixtures are known for goals where as others seem destined for a 0-0 before the game has even kicked off!

4.) Projected Line Ups: Look at injury news and projected team line-ups. If a team is missing their star striker they’re going to be less likely to score goals. Likewise if there are defensive injuries they may be more likely to concede.

5.) Context of the Game: Think about the game itself. There may be certain situations where goals are less likely than the form suggests. For example if a team that usually scores goals only need a draw to go through they may be likely to park the bus and play for a 0-0. (or if the teams happens to be managed by Jose Mourinho!)
