Which Leicester Players Will Be Moving On In The Summer?
Leicester City have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season as they have emerged as the leading contenders to stopping Liverpool winning the Premier League title.
Brendan Rodgers will take an awful lot of credit from that achievement, but like most SuperBowl winning sides, there is much more to this side than just the coach.
The Foxes are blessed with one of the most exciting young squads in the division. They have quality players in every position, and these players could easily get into any of the starting elevens of the bigger clubs in the division.
A strong second half to the season will see the stocks of these players rise even further, and that could lead to big-money moves in the summer of 2020. But, which players are most likely to depart the Foxes?
James Maddison
The attacking midfielder has quickly taken to life in the Premier League. He arrived at the King Power Stadium from Norwich City in the summer of 2018. The fee that he moved to the Foxes for was in the region of £20 million, which would only be a fraction of the price that Leicester could receive if he is to move on next summer.
The 23-year-old registered seven goals and seven assists in his 36 appearances last season, but he is already on course to eclipse that this season. Maddison has already scored five goals this campaign and made three assists.
His ability from set-pieces is a big drawing point, and he has the ability to look menacing from any position in the final third. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both believed to be eyeing up the Englishman.
Ben Chilwell
Ben Chilwell is already seen as one of the very best left-backs in the Premier League, and Chelsea and Manchester City are considering making a move for the 22-year-old as soon as January. Chilwell burst onto the scene with the Foxes in 2015, before he was loaned out for the remainder of the season to Huddersfield Town.
He returned to Leicester a few months after they had wrapped up the Premier League title, and immediately Claudio Ranieri looked to make him a prominent player in his starting line-up.
He played in two Champions League fixtures during his first full season with the club and went on to make 19 appearances in total. Over the past 18 months, he has emerged as the number one left-back for England as he has finally ousted Danny Rose in that department.
He has the prowess at both ends of the field as he has already registered three assists this season, while he also plays in a defence that has conceded the least in the top-flight. Chilwell has pace that could rival a stallion among the Kentucky Derby contenders and he will surely be on the radar of some elite Premier League clubs.
Caglar Soyuncu
Rodgers was adamant at the beginning of the season that there was no need to bring in a new defender because they had the perfect fit already at the club. It would turn out that he was right on that front, as Caglar Soyuncu has seamlessly fitted into the backline in place of Harry Maguire.
Soyuncu fits the philosophy of Rodgers perfectly as he is as confident with the ball at his feet as he is defensively.
He boasts a staggering 89.3% pass completion rate and wins an average of 3.2 aerial duals per match. He makes nearly two tackles per match and averages 5.5 clearances per game. He has averaged a rating of 7.22 with WhoScored throughout the season, and that has led to reported interest from Manchester City, who are looking to strengthen their backline.
Here you have it, these are probably the 3 players most likely to be moving on Summer. However, there are others who can get transferred after an impressive season, like Ricardo Pereira and Tielemans.
What do you think? Would you bet on Leicester to finish on a Champions League place?
