Best Remaining Bets for 2018 UK Football Season
It’s still a bit hard to believe that the domestic football season is drawing to a close, with just eight games to go in the Premier League and 10 or less for most EFL clubs. While there is no point in backing City to win the Premier League – unless backing odds of 1/1000 is your thing – there are plenty of value bets remaining up and down the English football pyramid. Below are some picks for the remainder of the season, with the focus on generous odds rather than being a sure thing. However, none of them would constitute a shock and could potentially earn a decent profit. There are plenty of bookies’ promotions, including free bets, still remaining for the season, so check out the latest UK betting offers before you bet:
West Ham to be relegated: 9/4 Bet365.
Quite why Bet365 have priced West Ham so high to be relegated is anyone’s guess. They currently sit three points above the relegation zone in 17th place. However, that does not tell the full story. They play four of the Big 6 in their last eight games, whereas Palace (18th position) play just one of those sides. Moreover, the disgraceful scenes at the London Stadium recently, where fans invaded the pitch to protest, had all the hallmarks of a club in turmoil.
Cardiff to win the Championship: 7/1 Bet Victor, Sky Bet
With just 10 games to go in the Championship, Wolves sit three points ahead of Cardiff at the top of the table. However, it is the Welsh side who look to be on the up. They have won seven of their last eight games, with Wolves losing two out of the last three. The pressure seems to be getting to the Molineux men, as evidenced in the recent 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Aston Villa. The Bluebirds can capitalise.
Plymouth Argyle to win promotion from League One: 14/1 various
At the end of November, Plymouth were bottom of League One after having just won three games all season. Today, they sit in sixth position and are one of the form teams in the league, losing just game in 17. They have gained so much momentum and you really could see Derek Adams’ side going all the way in the Playoffs.
Accrington Stanley to win League Two: 5/2 Betfred
Top of the league by two points with just ten games left to play, yet Betfred have still priced Accrington at 5/2. Strange. They have just beaten their closest rivals, Luton Town, in a top of the table clash and are the form team of the division. It is in their own hands after that victory and Betfred may have made a huge error in floating that price. Could be the best bet you make this year.
Sergio Aguero to be the Premier League top scorer: 13/2 various
At the moment, Mo Salah and Harry Kane lead the Premier League scoring charts on 24 goals respectively. Kane can be backed at 1/2 and Salah at 9/4 to finish the season as top goal scorer, but Aguero, on 23 goals, still looks like a bargain at those odds. He is a real streaky kind of player and if he goes on a run during these remaining games, he could easily make up the ground. It’s a tough call, because both Kane and Salah are on form, but Aguero’s price still shows real value.
